How It Works
Frequently Asked Questions
Is FAME II subsidy still available in 2026?
FAME II ended in March 2024. It has been replaced by the PM E-DRIVE scheme. Under PM E-DRIVE, two-wheeler subsidies are available until July 31, 2026. Three-wheeler e-rickshaw subsidies continue until March 31, 2028.
Can I get both central and state subsidies together?
Yes. The PM E-DRIVE central subsidy is applied directly at the dealership at point of sale. State subsidies are processed separately at RTO registration. Both can be claimed on the same vehicle.
How is the central PM E-DRIVE subsidy calculated?
For two-wheelers: ₹2,500 per kWh of battery capacity, capped at ₹5,000 per vehicle. For e-rickshaws: ₹2,500 per kWh, capped at ₹12,500. Four-wheelers currently have no central subsidy under PM E-DRIVE.
What happens to two-wheeler subsidies after July 2026?
The PM E-DRIVE central subsidy for two-wheelers ends July 31, 2026. State-level subsidies will continue. Check your state transport department for ongoing benefits after this date.
Do I need Aadhaar to claim the subsidy?
Yes. PM E-DRIVE requires Aadhaar e-KYC authentication linked to your mobile number. The subsidy is applied as a discount at the point of sale by the dealer — you do not need to claim it separately.
Which state gives the highest EV subsidy in India?

Gujarat offers ₹20,000 cash subsidy plus 100% road tax and registration exemption. Chandigarh offers up to ₹30,000 for two-wheelers with enhanced benefits for women buyers.
